So. A blog? As with everything else on this site, the first question is: am I doing this right? I'll add a photograph and see if my words and my image take. I'll write properly about them tomorrow. See you then?

[10/13 update: I asked the hive mind on FB for any help they could give with the text. Is it in Arabic? Or in Bambara (it came to me from Mali), or what? I've been advised that Google Lens identifies it as Arabic, and that the machine translation is "Salt. It doesn't come from the north. Gold comes from the South and silver from Dar-al-Nahan. The words of God and the holy prophets do not exist or exist"—which sounds to me like a broken off quotation? More in the next entry.]
