I miss tennis. I haven't played in five or six years now; it got to where every other time I did, I strained a leg muscle, and retired hobbled. For months once, my foot was in a protective boot. Unfortunately, my style is to dink and to dart, to spin and to lob, to chase down shots and make the other guy outdo me at it. No longer a feasible plan. Yet if someone were to call me up right now and say, Meet me at the tennis courts, I'd still risk it, probably, if I were single. Fortunately, I'm married, and knowing I would never hear the end of it (and that I would deserve the tongue-lashing) is more of a disincentive than the fear of physical agony. I also miss playing football (meaning soccer), though without any temptation to try. (I was in my sixties the last time, teachers against high school kids, and I too vividly recalling the impossibility of it. And lying spreadeagled on the grass, howling "I've fallen and I can't get up!") Most of all, I miss cricket, always my favorite sport. I played a few pick up games in my twenties, in Charlottesville, with a bunch of other expats, but I left the proper club game behind way, way too young. Of all the things I said goodbye to when I moved to the US, cricket remains, after fifty years, second only to family.

But all that is incidental. This post is really about cover image testing. No matter what, I can't get this app to post my limerick pic on my limerick post. Or any other pic, for that matter, than the one it's fixated on, the "notre cher professeur" card pic. On my preview screen, the right image shows up, but never yet (after scores of tries) on the site proper. So here, as a cover image test, is a guy hitting balls against a backboard at the park. Or if not, notre cher professeur again. In which case, Aaaarrgghhh!

Updates: October 16. Finally got the limerick pic to stick. Yay! Still struggling with the tennis player pic. Aaaarrgghhh! October 17: got an alternative shot to stick. Yay! But notre cher professeur is still crowding out the Trees 'r' Us Kid tree pic. Grrr!
